There are so many things to in the Austin area, it can be a
little overwhelming. Every night of the week, there are over
100 music venues to choose from with a wide variety of
musical styles and atmospheres. For a more formal night
of music and entertainment, there are operas,
symphonies, theater performances, ballet and modern
dance shows, Broadway and off-Brodway productions,
and local choruses. And it would take weeks to experience
all of the art in Austin’s many world-class museums,
beautiful galleries, and outdoor art shows. There is a great
community spirit in Austin, and citizens enjoy dozes of
city-wide events, festivals, races, and holiday celebrations

Each month in Austin there are exciting festivals to
satisfy a wide range of interests, from garden and
wildlife shows to classic car expositions to hot
sauce contests.

First Thursday
On the first Thursday of every month merchants of
historic, pedestrian-friendly South Congress Avenue,
or “SoCo,” keep their doors open late into the evening
hosting events, activities and music throughout the
streets. Artists and artisans set up booths to sell their
wares, making for a fun and unique evening of local
culture and shopping.
